About Clothes for a Cause
As a graduation requirement, all seniors attending my high school must complete a Senior Project. A Senior Project is a year-long study of a specific area of interest, where each student plans and executes events corresponding to that area of interest.
My senior project, entitled “Clothes for a Cause”, is geared towards fundraising for multiple causes through the forum of fashion. This project is driven by a love for fashion and a desire to give back.
The underlying goal of "Clothes for a Cause" is to utilize the appeal of fashion to show that there are endless ways to make a difference in the lives of others.
With this to prove, "Clothes for a Cause" is a project of multiple moving pieces: covering the areas of sports, photography, fashion, fundraising...you name it.
The unifying element is the ultimate goal of giving back.
"Clothes for a Cause" is broken down into a series of events meant to showcase just how many ways one person can make a difference.
On one end of the spectrum is the Jersey Drive. This fundraiser takes the emblem of sports: the jersey, and reveals its ability to double as a means of giving back. For this event, I am collecting new and used sports equipment and redistributing it to underprivileged youth interested in sports.
On the other end f the spectrum is a benefit runway show. In this event I am using the lure of fashion as art to bring the community together towards multiple worthy causes.
Each element of my project, although very distinct, has the same goal in mind: clothes for a cause. Find where clothing relates to an area of interest: sports, photography, fashion, etc. and use that relation to make a difference.

History of project
"Clothes for a Cause" is a rather recent endeavor that was launched by the need for a "Senior Project". As a graduation requirement, it is necessary that I complete a "SeniorProject", or yearly study of a specific area of interest. These projects are meant to allow the exploration of specific interests that are not a part of the normal high-school curriculum; and range from building a car to studying neurology. The options for a "Senior Project" are limitless, and being that I couldn't narrow my interests down from fashion, photography, sports, and fundrasing, I decided to craft a senior project that would encompass all of these areas.
"Clothes for a Cause" is the fusion of my love for fashion, photography, and sports with the desire to give back. Throughout this year-long endeavor, I will immerse myself in the world of fashion and photography in an attempt to discover the many ways that clothing can influence others.
